Default Alignment on John Bean vs Hunter machine?

I went to get my alignment checked at Advance Auotmotive they use the John Bean machine. The factory UK settings were specified as 60 to 120 degrees for total rear toe. I thought it was around 40 degrees for total rear toe. Are the numbers correct for the John Bean machine?

Christy what was your total rear toe in when you had your alignment done?

Thanks

Lucky the machine wasn't run by Jim Bean ! It's not really the machine but the machine operator. Factory Spec for rear Toe is inward 6mm+/-2mm or 1/4" +/- 1/16" I wouldn't want to drive a car that had the rear wheels 40 degrees from the center. I can't imagine anyone telling you it was ok to have anywhere from 60 to 120 degrees of of toe in/out.

Btw the total turning angle for the front wheels is only 34 degrees from center.

Here is a link to the UK alignment settings set by Honda UK

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...light=alignment

Where the US settings are in mm the UK are in degrees so what is 6mm in degrees?

Plus the operator was recommended through a board member here.

I used to take my car to http://www.advanceautomotive.ca to prep the car for autocross. I'm not sure if they do subframe alignment, I would imagine they would. They're the official tech inspection place for VCMC so I'm sure they will know what to do or at least point you to the right place.

In the bulletin they recommend total rear toe in of 40 degrees as the optimum setting.

That spec says 0 degrees 20 minutes, not 40 degrees total , but 40 minutes which would be the same as 1/4". The shop is a good one. I/you just must have misunderstood what the aligment guy actually meant.

That's were I got confused cause the print out specifies degrees but it is really minutes it has the degree symbol instead of the minutes symbol. My print out says total rear toe in of 90 which would mean 90 minutes. That means it is at the higher end of spec for UK. Does all this seem correct?

Are you simply changing your alignment to the UK spec? If so please share with us your impressions as I've heard it's better for cornering.

JL9000

I am running kgmm race springs so I thought the UK numbers would be a good base to start with. Talking to John at Advance suggested I run more caster in the front compared to UK specs to stabilize the car at speed. For street driving the set up I have seems good. The car feels much smoother over bumpy roads. I haven't got a chance to really push it in the corners but the turn in seems a bit heavier than before but then again my alignment was out before these changes took place. I need more time in the car but for now feels pretty good. My set up right now is

caster left 7.9 right 8.6
camber front -0.7 both sides
front toe 0.00

camber rear -2.2 both sides
rear toe 45 minutes each side total 90 minutes
