Car broken into
A remote start doesn't involve a key at all. It does momentarily "hit" or connect your starter wires (like turning your key), and the bypass module (needed in our cars) contains the keysense programmed from one of your keys (factory immobilizers sense the chip in our keys).
There may be some complex way to do what you are asking, but I haven't heard of any local shops being able to do this yet. You should phone around and ask! I've been out of the install field now for a couple years...

It can't be done if I understand this correctly. There is something called the steering lock.
SS04, you are right about the auto/manual mode, but some people like to have their alarms installed that way. My installer asked me if I wanted it, but I said no. My installer is also my buddy and he said he would only do this for close friends.

I wonder how the new Lexus IS series do it? I guess they don't have a steering lock or it engages differently.

Of course... however I have seen them modified/removed before, not yet on an S though.

Never looking into the IS, but I would assume they would have some sort of electronic actuator type lock.
That being said, using the Compustar alarm as an example, remote start as you walk up to the car then slip the key into the ignition. When you stop, turn off as normal and when you close the door, the alarm turns off the motor and arms. That is as close as what S2KVN wants, without doing lots of custom work.
