Default Car runs "rough"

Hey everyone,

I noticed last night on my drive home from work, my car feels a lot more rough compared to normal. For instance, when I press the clutch in, it's not smooth but feels tough. When I got home, I checked the oil and it was still on H and the oil color was a darker hazel color. I had filled up at lunch time so when I got home, there was about 20km on the odo and -1 bar from full tank of gas. I didn' think much of this so I let it slide as a one off thing.

This morning, I start up and the car feels fine again. I commute from Surrey to Burnaby for work, but when I get to about Kensington on Hwy. 1 I notice the car has that feel again. Now when I get to work, I see that my car has only gone 60km since I filled up and I'm already at 1/4th my tank gone. Since day one, I normally get 415-430km per tank.

Is this something I should be worried about and take the car in to have it looked at?

Regards,
Michael

Another thing I noticed, the car now runs at a lower RPM. I'm in 5th gear going 60km and it's barely at 2.5krpm on the tach. This was not the case on the weekend or when anytime that I can remember during ownership. Something just feels really off from yesterday and today...

No lights or error codes on the dash. The car is going faster to keep the same rpm levels in certain gears from before. This is from driving the same route to/from work where I'm noticing the difference.

It's not possible for the car to be running in lower RPM than before at the same speed with load. Since your car's transmission and engine speed are linked. And your transmission speed is linked with tire rotation speed.

Have you gotten the spark plugs changed? Engine air filter? Fuel pump filter? all these minor things added together can add up to a quite a difference in fuel economy.

checked my air filter looks spotless, spark plugs haven't been changed yet but it's on the list of to do things as well as a full fluid flush. i have a car buddy that is willing to help as long as i provide the parts and pizza+beer hehe

i think it was the gas, i had about 2/5th a tank of petro canada in it before i put the chevron in and as a result after driving it til the light flashed for gas, i got a total of 405km. not the best i've seen but definitely better than what the trend looked like in the beginning.

405 is pretty damn good. I average 350. Of course I'm running a richer mix in an 00-01 ECU.
