Default CEL

Hi everybody. Remember us? Faye & Colin{black 2001 at spanish banks} We could not pass aircare, because of not complete codes on the ecm. After all avenues were exhausted, the only option was to pull the head and look for a bent valve or collapsed ring.Decided to sell the car as is,and was offered $8000.00 for it.[a guy who was going to turn it into a racecar].The deal didnt happen so I decided to diddle around one last time.Disconnected all electrical, vacuum, and any sensors I could find.Took out the injectors, plugs, then put everything back.Still showed random misfires, but the CEL went out.Drove the car around for a day,and lo and behold,no codes present.Drove immediately to aircare, passed with no problem, and the aircare is good till Oct.2010.This was on Saturday .Drove the car all day sunday all ok.Start the car up Monday morning,Cel comes on,shows misfire again, but car runs perfect,as always.Go figure? Anyways, does anyone have a chrome exhaust tip they want to sell [backed into a curb] Give me a call,604-561-7482 Cheers,Colin.

So what happened was you had the battery disconnected and that reset the ECU which cleared all the trouble codes.
Sometimes, it takes a little bit of time for the ECU to relearn things, which in this case it took some time before the ECU saw the misfires.

I can't remember, but did you get the vavles checked out to see if any of the retainers were broken or not? The last thing you wanna do is drop a valve into the cylinder and destroy the motor.

I havne't seen your car before but there have been a few used S2ks that have been selling upwards of $16,000. Maybe you should consider getting it fixed before selling b/c $8k is pretty low. Go to a few mechanics to get quotes. I'm sure someone can recommend a good, reasonable price one. PM me if you need to find one.
