Coming to Vancouver
Hello to my neighbors in The Great White North
Sorry to do this to you, but I'm looking for suggestions of activities in your area as my wife and I are in need of escape from our little rock here and are planning on a vacation sometime later this month. I'm sure you have a previous thread asking this same question, but I could not find it.
I've done a few googles, but it's hard to trust the judgment or taste of someone that you have no idea where their values are. At least with this group I know you have great taste in cars!
A few things about us to help narrow things down.
married but no kids.
I like to drink and like the night life. She doesn't do either.
She's Japanese and therefore loves to shop. I let her do the shopping for me.
We both like good food and would love suggestions for breakfast lunch and dinner. Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Thai, anything...
Anything of interest, aquarium, theatre, museums, galleries, etc...
Thank you in advance!
Aloha,
Stephen

I grew up in Vancouver (though live in-land in Kelowna - wine country) and still visit often. And having traveled and lived around the world, Vancouver is still a favorite.
A few choice spots:
http://www.sanafir.ca/ address: 1026 Granville - 604.678.1049 (good idea to book and ask for leather couch)
And also for fine food: http://www.lumiere.ca/
Shopping is good on Robson -- and nearby the Vancouver Art Gallery Restaurant is one of Vancouver's best kept secrets for lunch.
Cafe Artisiano is the world's best coffee house. Tall claim, I know, but it is drinkable art.
Interesting area to visit might be Yaletown.
The Yaletown Brewery is a good spot for a pint and decent food.
Speaking of breweries, Granville Island Market is an interesting area to walk around (shopping, artisans etc), and the Granville Island Brewery is a fine local micro.
Consider going up the local mountain: Grouse Mountain overlooks the city and has a Skyride to the top. http://www.grousemountain.com/ Restaurant up there and sweet views.
If you are in Van for a few days and renting a car, consider a drive up the Sea to Sky highway to Whistler -- site of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Very fine drive (i.e. twisty and scenic).
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

^thanks bentlink! That helps a lot!
I just found out that my passport expired earlier this year though, so I'm looking for a solution since the gov is super backlogged on issuing renewals.
They're saying that a passport is only required if traveling by air, so we're looking to see if we can fly to Seattle and maybe drive up.
