Default Import my S or is it too difficult?

Hi Guys, I only get to use my S 4 months of the year in winter in Portugal and am thinking about bringing it over to BC in a shared container so I can enjoy it in BC for 8 months, cheaper gas too! What are the import problems I will encounter, I know about running lights, what about all my mods, (see my signature) will they cause a problem? Any ideas how to go about it? Any help greatly appreciated!

Your mods should be fine as long as you have no CEL. Is your car a LHD or RHD?

short answer is that it won't be admissible unless it's 15 yrs old or older.

^I think this is your biggest hurdle because of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Thanks guys, it looks like I will have to wait until February 2015 when my S reaches 15 years old. Which is a bit of a pain. The only difference between my S and a Canadian S is the running lights and no cruise, the regs seem a bit severe. So 2015 it will have to be, hope to join in some events then

If your moving to canada from a different country you can import and register your personal vehicle even if it isn't 15 years old.

I've heard that said before, but I'm having trouble finding official info about it. According to this link (http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publicati...-eng.html#s4x1), you can import a vehicle less than 15 years old into Canada temporarily. Otherwise, the list of importing exceptions cited in the above link only apply if the vehicle was "designed, manufactured, tested and certified to meet the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards or the U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards". And I don't know if the OP's s2k would qualify--does it have, for instance, the USDM crash beams or the Japanese ones?
