Default Mission Lapping Days...

Anyone do these? I'd like to do some track days this spring/summer, I'm wondering if Mission is any good or if people are heading south for better venues?

What is involved in getting on the track and is tech more comprehensive than the average auto-x/drag tech?

Annnddd what does a day on the track cost? (here, WA state, etc)

Thanks

usually its 2something but its not the track day is expensive. its best that you do a full fluid flush and oil change before and after each track day and that will cost the most. I mean you dont have to do it but its better for the car.

Mission is an extremely tough course on your car.
Little to no run offs, Short straights not much area's for your tires and brakes to cool themselves in between corners.

A quick check list of things to do before a track
-Race pads are definitely recommended
-Full fluid flush (clutch, oil, transmission, differential, brakes, coolant)
-Tires if needed

It usually between 230-260 bucks for the track day.

Gearheads will be attending a lot of the coming track days this year, And they did a special for the EVO X guys so I'm sure we we can get the same deal as well for a full fluid flush

As for track recommendations, I would direct you to vinz86, ss04, clement and sumaznguy

There are a few others I just don't know them off the top of my head

Im hoping to do slotted rotors w/ race pads as well as new rims/tires this spring. Fluid changes etc would be a given.

What kind of laps are we talking at a mission lapping day? Are you going continuosly for hours at full pace or are cars taking turns at 15 minute intervals?

usually its about 30 minute interavals.

no street car could handle hours of racing at full pace.

don't waste money on fancy rotors. a lot of members here upgraded to ceramic pads last year

Sounds fun. Anyone know where one could look at a schedule for this coming year? If this doesnt exist, how does one find out when a lapping day is coming up?

There are a lot of us that go quite often. This past year was my first year, and it was a blast.

Like ChowBot said, don't bother with fancy rotors. They are a waste of money. Track pads with OEM rotors and good fluid is more than adequate. SS lines are debatable.

There are many clubs that offer lapping days. I haven't looked up any 2011 schedules yet, but more often than not, they are posted in here with a lot of time to sign up before the event.

This is a pretty big club in BC. They do a lot of events throughout the year in BC, Seattle, and Oregon I think. Here's a link to the tech inspection, it's pretty much the same for all clubs: http://performancedriversclub.org/index.ph...ech_inspection/

Track fees + misc stuff add up, hopefully we can attend all together as it is more fun. If you are on a tight budget, save up for a good set of tires. The stock S is pretty good already.

You are going to need an umbrella girl for the pits. Truong charges $35/hr and holds a sippy cup + twisty straw + lemon wedge...tall, slim, nice legs.
