Default New Clutch

Hey guys, Just wondering how heavy the clutch pressure should be on a OEM clutch. I just replaced my clutch and no longer have the buzz. The new one is also lighter to push than the old one. Is this normal for an OEM assembly ? Thanks.

hey im kenny.

ummm...i have a MY2000 S2k. went to change my clutch at westwood honda in 2002 i believe...the guy said that he has to replace our clutch with a brand new "2001" clutch. he said that it is normal to be a bit lighter than the "2000" clutch. so we got it switch and i noticed that it was infact a bit lighter but still had a stiff feeling to it.

just recently i had the clutch changed again, and i think they have an AP2 clutch in it now (04-06), i drove it and noticed that it had the same clutch feel to the white AP2 i drove at richmond honda a few days ago. this was probably the lightest clutch i have ever felt, i hate it and still do. im a bit used to it but i wish i had my "2000" clutch back.

so to answer your question. yes, i do think this is normal unless the mechanic actually puts the same clutch for the same model year. like say you had a 2001. if they put a 2001 clutch in it, it will feel a bit lighter at first, and as it gets broken in, it will feel the same as your old clutch.

my buddy with a 2003 has the same clutch from when he first got it, and it felt much lighter than what i had when i first changed the clutch. and then once i switched for the third time, it now feels much lighter than my buddies. oh well...i still love my car!! haha

and i hope this answered your question.

Thanks Kenny, I have a my2000. I don't mind it being light but it felt different from the old one, reminds me of a CRX clutch. I had to replace the secondary shaft bearings so did everything at once. One set fell apart and the other was slightly pitted. I question the quality of these tranny bearings as the shop has done other HONDAS with the same problem. This was not a Honda dealer. It's nice to have a buzz free clutch.

I no longer have the buzz since the new cluch. With the old clutch it would vibrate when I let off the gas. The springs in the disc were alll loose. Your new clutch shouldn't buzz.
