Default Question about softtop...

Hey guys...looking to buy an S...ap1 specifically cause i don't have enough cash for an ap2. My main concern is the plastic rear window...its a big blurr compared to the glass one....just wanted to know if anyone knows a shop that does the conversion?...anywebsites where i can order the softtop (glass)?.

i have checked ebay and they have it around 700 with shipping. just wantd to get it locally. THANKS!

another thing that would help is your guys' opinion on ap1 and ap2. I know there has been a lot of debate about this...but just want to hear what you guys have to say about it

There is a product called Plexus that will help clear up the window if it is not too bad. If you are looking at replacing the top (relatively costly), why not consider going with a 2002 or later AP1, as they are equiped with the glass window. Another alternative is to see if you can pick up a hard top for cheap. The hard top is nice because it has a huge window and is great for the winter. In the summer, you don't have to worry about the window because you will have the top down.

As for AP1 vs AP2, I have only driven the AP1... I like it.

Before I bought my AP2 I drove an AP1 and didn't notice much of a difference. The AP2 is supposed to have a bit more pull at a lower rpm and a better suspension. I know people who've done autocross with them and found the AP1 easier to spin out. But they're both awesome! If money is an issue, you're more likely to find a decent condition AP1 than an AP2 for the same price.

Is it a pain to change the plastic soft top to the glass soft top?

because i was thinking of changing it since my soft top has a few holes.

well from what i have read on other websites...changing the softop for someone who has no experience of doing so took about 5 hours...you ned some kind of staple gun and some other stuff....it would cost around 600-700 for parts...and for an s2000...i would think that you would pay someone to do it properly...add another 200-300 labour?...so about 1000....this is jus a rough idea. If anyone knows how to import cars from the US...meaning that you have had experience doing so...please pm me...i am also thinking of importing one cause with the 25k that i have...i think i will be able to get a better condition car over there....not sure how much of a hassle though

There's a big ap1 vs ap2 thread going on in s2000 talk so u can check there. The argument has been repeated thousands of times so you won't have problems finding all the information you need by searching. If you can spend like 25k, u may be able to find an 04 ap2. A lot of s2ks being sold now are imported from US so run a carfax is a must before purchasing. Shouldn't be that hard to find one. Make sure to negotiate and preferrably do private sales instead of from dealer.
