Default RIV sticker

I got a letter in the mail from RIV saying that I need to affix a sticker with my car's vin number on the driver's door side. This is news to me, anyone else have this too?

I have that sticker. It has the VIN on it.
I attached mine on the passenger side cuz there was no room for it on the driver side.

Yes, I have one and have affixed it to the driver's side door jam.

I had one... but then my car was getting painted so I had to remove it.

I wonder if I should be concerned?

Probably not, you don't need it to renew your insurance.

RIV is supposed to send out the sticker (although they didn't send me one), did you just get the letter from them or the letter and the sticker?

Mine was with the paperwork when I imported. I didn't stick it anywhere though I just have it with my insurance papers.

The sticker serves as proof that your car was imported, federally inspected, and registered in Canada legally I believe. It would probably be good to have for if (when) you sell your car, affixed or not. Also, if you ever need any kind of VI or other gov't inspection it would probably be good to have.
