Rough shift from 1st to 2nd
Any other locals have this problem? Almost everytime i shift from 1st to 2nd gear the shift is not smooth like it would be when shifting into any of the other gears. The shift feels stiff and is accompanied by a sort of clunking or clicking sound that is uncharacteristic of any of the other gears. This seems to be a commom issue from what I have read over in the tech forums, however, many mention that the notchiness goes away as the car warms up. Mine on the other hand seems to be constant.
Anyone who has this problem or have had this problem ever get it checked it before?

yea it sux...that's why i hardly vtec in 1st..then again..i think it's common on all s2ks...
i find 1st to 2nd smoother after some hard driving..basically the harder i drive, the smoother it gets..anybody with similar experience?
but then...wut annoys me most is that the car sometimes pop out of 1st gear (only happens from a standstill)..

Sometimes I find that it requires extra effort to shift out of 1st or 2nd into neutral. I depress the clutch all the way to the floor but the shifter doesn't want to release out of gear. With a little extra force the transmission goes to neutral, but this requires far more effort than should be necessary.
e.g.) I'm driving along in 2nd gear at 40km/h. I'll press and hold the clutch all the way to the floor, but the car will stay in gear (the shifter is still in the gate for 2nd). When I experience this problem if I let the car slow down in 1st or 2nd to a slow speed of 10-15km/h then the gear releases on its own. You can feel the difference in the transmission when it releases. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
It feels as if the car stays in gear even though the clutch is pressed down to the floor. Any idea what this could be? It doesn't happen all the time, and seems to happen when the engine is both hot and cold. Any ideas what it could be? The car has 67,000kms. Please don't tell me that I need a new clutch. Normally everything is fine, it only happens once in a while.

I used to have the odd 1 -> 2 gear shift gring. I changed my tranny fluid to Redline MTL and the problem went away. The Honda MTF was poison to my tranny and I know other people on the boards have had problems with it. So if you're getting grinds change your tranny fluid to Redline MTL and it may fit your problems. Since changing the fluid I can shift from 1->2 as fast as I can and have not experienced any grinding. Try it out.
