I doubt he roams the boards. We need to take on active involvement to stimulate the community's S2K crowd. There are tons of us, but this board is probably duller than central Nebraska.

The problem with YVR is that we have two groups at the end of the spectrum. The younger folks tend to stick with Revscene and likes to gather in parking lot. While the old timers tend to like the more formal gathering.

There's more chemistry in Washington and OR because they're all old timers. j/k

Sorry for the thread jack as this is off topic but I would like to chime in to share my reasons for not visiting the YVR forum as much as the others. I've registered almost a year ago but I visit the S2000 talk, UTH, R&C, and even the Washington forum more often than the YVR one. I'm definitely not the younger type on one end of the spectrum but I'm not quite the type at the other end either. I like technical stuff and I usually go Pacific Raceways for track days so that's one reason I hang around the WA forum more often. Also, the YVR forum is pretty quiet and quite often filled with buy and sell threads of stuff I'm not quite interested in. Hope to see the YVR forum gets more active and have more variety of threads in the future.

I have to agree about the buy and sell nature that our forum has become. I have said it before, and I will say it again. Once we started letting members buy and sell on the local forum, it changed the community. Before, we had to get together if we wanted to buy and sell, now it can be done from the comfort of our little caves.

Personally, I am not keen on this situation, but it seems that most of the users in YVR are happy with using this arena asa local buy and sell. I have opened pandora's box, and it seems that there is no turning back...

I've been contemplating the idea of forcing people to post in the main for sale forum and have them link from one van for sale thread. Most of the time, threads are duplicated in the main for sale forum anyway.

Comments?

I for one enjoy the Vancouver Buy/Sell feature.
Shipping is a hassle when dealing with buying parts from across the border. Whenever I'm browsing through used parts to buy, I pretty much keep my searches limited to Vancouver, Prairie and Toronto Forums.
TO has a big community to browse through, but being at the opposite end of the country, it's almost as much hassle (long distance, but still no border hassles).
It's nice to have a Local community to Buy and Sell from.

Although I'm not too interested in most of the buy and sell threads in this forum, I think it's not too bad a decision to keep it as it is. I think the situation is more like a lack of threads of other variety than a flood of b&s threads. If we consolidate all b&s threads in one, the forum might look even more quiet.

I can see your point, but what I was talking about was more subtle than just the FS threads. Having been around for a number of years, I can remember a time when the community was very big on getting together and getting to know each other. In the past year I have noticed a shift... I don't really know why things have changed, but it seemed to coincide with allowing FS items to be posted.

As for interesting threads, it is far more interesting to talk to people when you know them. Granted, you don't know everyone in S2000 talk, but many more people post to that area, so you are bound to find something of interest.

The big differences between the Seattle crew and YVR are size and their willingness to get together. There are several nights per week that I can drive down there and be guaranteed to meet up with 10 to 15 owners.

I know Cong has sugeested that part of the shift might be caused by the "generation" gap. Maybe that is the case. I wish I knew. Last year we tried doing a weekly meet at a local Starbucks and it kind of brought a few diehards out, but on some nights I was the only car to show. We could try this again if anyone is interested.

I am available on Thursday evening????
