West Coast Meet
This meet will bring the 3 major forums (Alberta, Washington and BC) together. Lets make it happen! We should stick to the suggested date as finding a date that will work for everyone will be impossible. Routes and events are all open to suggestions.
"The plan":
Friday, July 8th, check into meet hotel in the evening (Best Western Coquitlam gives us a bit of a deal - last year it was $95.00 Can/night).
Sat, July 9, after breakfast, head out to Horseshoe Bay and get on 11:45am ferry to Langdale (Sunshine Coast). Check here for schedule:
http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/m...c-current.html
Sailing takes 40 minutes. Cost: $28.75/car, $8.50/person
http://www.bcferries.com/fares/sunshine_coast.html
Driving time from Langdale to Earls Cove: approx. 1 hour.
3:10pm Ferry from Earls Cove to Saltery Bay. Schedule:
http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/m...r-current.html
Sailing takes 50 minutes. Cost: Included if first ferry was purchased.
Driving time from Saltery Bay to Powell River: approx. 30 minutes.
5:15pm Ferry from Powell River to Comox. Schedule:
http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/m...r-current.html
Sailing takes 1hr. 20min. Cost: similar to first ferry
http://www.bcferries.com/fares/comox-powell_river.html
*All fares in Can. $ (no debit cards accepted, CC OK)
This would put us into Comox/Courtney around 6:30pm. We can pre-arrange a motel in the vicinity and spend Sat. night there or drive all the way to Victoria to a hotel there.
Sun, July 10, head down to Victoria (about 3.5 hours drive). From Victoria, people can catch the ferry back to Vancouver at their leasure. I'm not sure if a car ferry exists from Victoria to U.S.
Ferries leave every hour on the hour from Victoria (Swartz Bay) - last one leaves at 9pm.
Schedule for Victoria to Vancouver (Tsawwassen - close to US border):
http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/m...w-current.html
Fares: A bit higher than the previous ferries:
http://www.bcferries.com/fares/vanis..._shoulder.html
If this proves to be too costly for most, we can do a repeat of our meet in Vancouver and a local scenic drive, staying 2 nights in Coquitlam.
We'll need to see how much interest there is for this as hotels and restaurants in Comox are plentiful but not large and it would be a Saturday night (busy).

Here is some info on what's available in Comox/Courtenay:

You will also find a link in this site for hotels in Victoria if anyone wishes to stay the Sunday night there. James Bay Inn and Helm's Inn are close to the harbour/tourist area.
It might be wise to make some reservations in the next little while. Indicate to people that they should mention the "S2000 group" for the Best Western.

YES... There is a ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles... This is the Coho. It leaves from the inner harbor in Victoria at 11 and 3. There might be a later ferry during the peak season as well.

Monkei, the Alberta caravan can pick you up along the way in Kelowna
As the host city we should try to figure out the dinner plan for the evening of Friday, July 8th. Suggestions definitely welcome.
I didn't hear any complaint about the breakfast at the Best Western last summer so there's a good place to be on the list for the morning of July 9th. Another suggestion I have in mind is the Tomahawk in North Van, it's along the way to the ferry. They have awesome IHOP style breakfast (much better of course) for very good prices and the cabin like atmostphere is a whole lot of fun as well. Has anyone else been there? what do you think?

That sounds good to me... I'll just join the convoy as it moves through town

Wow, this sounds fantastic! I'll check with my social coordinator/queen of keeping me organized (AKA Melody) and let you know if I am in. I have a lot on my plate right now, so it is only a maybe at this point.
Cong, do you want me to sticky this?
