Why not just take some alcohol to the trim to get rid of the paint? In a half hour or so, you will have trim that resembles polished metal.

Unfortunately, this is the best photo that I have but if you look closely, you can see the trim and how it shines.

That is the toughest part to keep scratch free. You should know this by experience.
