What's special about '04-'05 that you don't get in '06-'08?

"Electronics" in the 2006 and later cars allows tuning (3600 rpm VTEC transforms the car!). They also have traction control and stability assist which you can switch off if you want to play or don't care if you spin into the weeds. Kept me out of the median as least once.

that's interesting information that I did not know so I appreciate that. I wasn't aware you could shut that off because I'm not sure buying one of these cars I would really want that at all. What about the lag when you hit the accelerator for that drive by wire do you have to get the flashpro to get rid of that and how well does it actually do it. Will it make the accelerator respond the way Lee mechanical coupling does?

I'll admit to being clueless regarding electronic throttle "lag." My '06 is DBW and I've driven several pre-06 models and I don't see any differences in throttle response. It's non existent in my experience. At best it's PII (Preoccupation with Inconsequential Increments).

See if you can find some of the FlashPro "remote" tune threads. On the '06 and later the ECU can be accessed by the Hondata FlashPro, data captured and sent to an "e-tuner" and corrected performance tunes sent back. Astounding change in my car. Only engine hard needed is a high flow catalytic converter. My car pulled 221 HP at the rear wheels on a Mustang dyno after tuning but that's at 8000 rpm where I rarely drive. The mid range power -- area under the graph curve -- was significantly increased with the lowered VTEC. Can the pre-2006 cars be tuned similar to this? Sure but they require aftermarket ECUs and dynometer tuning (ever priced that!?) Oh yeah my car passes smog.

To me the added features available in 2006 put "2006 or later" as the #1 item on my priority list, followed by the usual low mileage, perfect condition, etc parameters. Color wasn't even on the list.

What is it about the tuning for the 06+ that you wish you could use?
