Default 17s on an '01

Sorry for the newbie question. I took a peek at the tire threads, and didn't find anything that addressed this.
I'm getting an '01 in a few days, and wanted to know if 17s fit on the car or not. I'm not aware of all of the differences between the 00-03s and the 04+

First, let me say welcome to S2ki! You should be more concerned about the width rather than the diameter. There are some people here who run 18's with lowered suspension setups and do just fine without any rubbing. Your most concern is the offsets of wheels. Our cars need a wheel with high offsets so it doesn't look too bad sticking out, and also to avoid rubbing. The 2004/05 OEM rims fit just fine on the older models. Just remember the wider wheel you get will be even harder to find an appropriate offset, but they're out there. I hope I helped out.

That is correct. You need to look at the size of the wheel and the offset of the wheels. The tire size would also be important. The 17" wheels and tire do fit fine on the car if you choose the correct wheel and tire.
If I can help let me know.

I am planing to 17' as well!

Any suggestions on which is the best set up, regarding both offsets and tire size?

My friend have 215/45R17 & 255/40R17 on a 2005 model!

But according the readings, the speedo, the fronts will read 2.3% too slow & the rears will read 4.7% too slow!

now I am trully mixed up!

As this Size calulator the best set up will be 225/40R17 & 255/35R17!

It is my objective to widen the tires witdh for greater stability, but is this wise? And this suggestion is it not too much?

If you go with 225/45-17 and 255/40-17, you will have almost zero error with speedo reading.

Agreed.
rfever and I swapped wheels for fun one day. His '02 worked just fine.

Now... You guys are on the very subject I need help with.
I want to go to 16s on my '04 because I heard that there are more selections of race rubber AND the wheels are lighter. However, previous to the MY04s, the rear wheel and tire was a skosh thinner. Honda put wider rubber on the rear in 04 to help with the oversteer and I don't want to revert.
So, here's my question(s)
What is the offset?
And, anybody have experience putting wider 16s for tracking on the S yet?

Gracias,
CB
