Default 17x8(+34)17x9(+38) ?



I'm a noob here and I was wondering if any of you veterans could enlighten me with some info.


I'm planning on buying some 17x8(+34) 17x9(+38)

I have already checked the wheel fitment guide and it says these are not recommended but i was wondering if any of you guys have made this size/offset fit?

and if so what did it require? just a fender roll? pull? any rubbing issues?

any info would help. thanks guys.

You can make those fit with fender rolls all around, and camber, and running conservative tire sizes.

Plenty of people are running 17x8 +35 17x9 +35 just do a search and you can find a lot of info how to make those fit.

The lower you are the more camber/skinnier the tires you will require.

Perfect, thanks a lot man, I just needed some reassurance hehe...

but yea I'm going to be lowered of course and I will definitely get some skinnier tires.

which did you most enjoy honestly?

I am buying an s2k soon and am stuck between...

red, white and black....

right now im thinking i want red the most

Idk they are both pretty equal to me... I had red with black int and now white with red int.... I would probably choose red with red if it were up to me... But the car I have now came with a ton of extras and puts down 400 whp which is why I bought it

Since there's never any shortage of people to encourage impractically low offsets, I'll pipe in and say you'll be better off with offsets in the +45 range or higher, and you'd definitely be able to run much wider tires.

Think of it this way, 215/45-17 on 17x8 +34 and 245/40-17s on 17x9 +38 is going to put the outer lip of the wheel at the same location (i.e., same "flushness", or, POKE) and give less tire clearance than 235s and 265s on 17x9 +48 and 17x10 +52.

Hah you're saying I encouraged it? I just said it's possible... The wheels I use on my car have are over +45....

I don't feel it's my place to influence someone one way or the other. If he wants to do it, then it's his choice. If he is more worried about how his car performs then he can choose not to.

The OP makes no reference to having a 400 hp car... And I do not have low offset wheels on mine if that's what you were referring to. I just know how to make wheels fit, and he asked if he could make it fit/how.

When someone proclaims himself a noob and asks for enlightenment regarding fitment +34 and +38 wheels, and you say:

You can rest assured that this is influencing him to go ahead and do it.

Tone is everything, and your tone is "yeah, no big deal".

For my part, I *do* feel it's my place to influence the uninitiated and to make sure they know what they're getting into.

Then if they WANT to spend their $$$ on ridonkulous offset wheels and go through the hassle and potential for fender-waviness of fender-rolling just so they can still be forced into using skinnyish tires, they can, but at least they'll be aware of the ramifications.
