Default 17x8 +45mm rubbing? for fronts

hello guys,

wondering if anyone could chime in on these rims. the buddy club P1 Racing QF. supposedly these rims were designed for the s2000.

17x8 +45
17x9 +63

the rears look like they'd fit magically. but the fronts seem iffy. anyone care to confirm this for me? RT? Phantom? you guys are the s2000 wheel gurus...

thanks.

mike

mwy23,

Yep...the I like the rear offsets also (17x9 +63mm). But, I'm with you...the fronts don't look very promising.
With 18x9...I would like to have at least a +55mm offset.

Rear good, front bad. I'm running 17x8 fronts +49 215/45 That is the minimum. If I had my way, the front offset would be at least +52 or so.

The rears (17x9 +63 255/40) have been perfect

lig,

so you've got a +49 offset and you're not extending out of the wheel well? i wonder if 4mm will really make tha tmuch of a difference. my cars in the shop anyways, so if i did choose to go with this setup, i was gonna have them roll my front fenders.

so if your setup has the wheels perfectly alligned with the outter edge of the fenders, then a 4mm lower offset will have my wheels stick out 4mm. huge difference???

Hey Mike - they aren't sticking out w/ the +49 215 setup. I thought they were perfect until last week... I hit a really big bump and I was at almost full lock. Minor rub on the inside of the fender liner.

I've never rubbed during an auto-x...

17x9 all the way around would result in an evil handling car. You'd have MAJOR oversteer.

If you don't plan on lowering the car you could probably get away with the 45, but it wouldn't be optimal...

I think you would be fine. We have a 17X8 ET48 wheel that doesn't stick out even with the 225/45R17.

The rims that lig speaks of (ASA FR1s) with the 49 fronts line up absolutely on the very edge of the fender. i suspect that offsets that are any lower are going to be jeep city. if we put on 225s up front, especially with s0-3s, i think we'd be rubbing as well with 49s.

the rears sound as good as it'll get for non-custom rims.

u can definitely play around with rollin da fenders and cambering out yo, but not advised. oh yeah, uncle ben says make sure u lower it if you're going to go big.

listen to RT, lig, and phantom. w/ that said RT probably has the most "honest", experienced insight into rim fitment for our ride.

yo ben...

lowering is a definite YES...buddy club coilovers...

just need to find the right rims. i can get custom volks for the same price as regular, but that'll take 6-9 months to get, and considering my car is being worked on right now and i have no wheels, i need to get something soon.

my bodyshop is allowing me to "upgrade" my wheels and tires...courtesey of my insurance...hehe...oh and its a good body shop. my friends dads shop. accucraft in ballard. specialize in BMW's. they already pulled the chassis straight and are waiting for parts to arrive. got some laser guided chassis jig to do all the chassis work. new rear quarter pannels, new trunk floor, and some other stuff. great painter as well.

so if the fronts dont work, what shall i do? i want something aggressive and not *bling bling*. volk te37 or these buddy club p1's. simple, light, and aggressive.

can i mount 215's on an 8" rim? do they even make a 17in 215 45 series? wait, lig has 215's. which tires lig?

thanks tho...needed some constructive advice...

I didn't know u crashed a BMW. but your BMW has a monocoque frame and an x-bone design....right?

S0-3s come in that size I believe. This IS an area where you may listen to Jim.
