Default 18" club

Hello,
I am thinking 18" gives better tyre sizes, so, here is my proposed upgrade.
Comments on fit would be appreciated, especially the offsets. I am hoping to get away with minimal (if any) mods.
Ride height is standard and always will be because we have massive speed humps here.

Front 8 x 18 Work Meister S1R +55
Bridgestone 225 45 18

Rear 10 x 18 Work Meister S1R +70
Bridgestone 285 30 18

The Work wheels site says any offset can be made, I am in no hurry, the car will be on stands until March
as the weather up here is awful November to March. I will be using the RAV4.

Thanks
Howard

It seems like you did your homework and those sizes are in the ballpark for what you are trying to accomplish. 225/40 would be the correct tire size for the front if you want to keep diameter the same front to rear. Also, 225/285 is a lot of stagger and will be prone to understeer. I'd recommend running a 245/35 front to match the 285/30 rear. 9" +60 front and 10" +75 rear would let you run those tire sizes without any fender work.

Agreed, definitely go with a 9" wheel and a 245 or 255 width tire up front.

Definitely a little more tire up front is a good idea with this setup. Other than that please post pics when you get them since this sounds sweet.

Thanks for your input guys.
The 245 looks a stretch on a 9", Work S1R do a 8.5" width.
This would get the stagger front/rear to 1.5" as per OEM fitment.

Many thanks

It depends on the tire and actual tread width. A 245 shouldn't be stretched at all on a 9.

Agreed, depends on the tire, but 18"s typically run a tad narrower then the 17" counterpart. Either way, 245/9" would be the better performing combo and a 9" would be better suited to accommodate a 255 obviously should that become desired in the future.

10.5 +72 allows for a 285 without fender work just fyi, but its super tight on the inside and can even slightly rub on a lowered S. 10" the tire will be slightly pinched and so a slightly higher offset like +75 may be a safer bet to clear the outer fender. +70 depending on camber could also work though, its a tough call. Camber can account for 5mm in either direction at the top of the tire, so you are right in the range. I would not exceed +75 though or you will run risk of hitting the inner fender under suspension compression with the 10”/285 combo.

18's look more stretched because of the shorter sidewall as well.

Thanks to Magna and Junky the wheel Guru.

I don't want you to think I am being awkward, I want to keep the 1.5" stagger.

What do you think to my final spec (preliminary ).

8.5" x 18" Front +60 offset 245-35-18

10" x 18" Rear +75 offset 285-30-18

My concern is clearance to the front tie rod, is this spec OK.?

What is left, tyre choice, I had Pilots on my Z3M and liked them, different car altogether.
The other choice would be Bridgestone S-04, happy with the RE50 esp. in the wet.
( it rains a lot in Scotland )

Good news today, overtime is back on, so funds are now available

thanks
