18" vs 19 " Comparison

Highly annoying. Just about every "test" I've seen comparing smaller diameter with larger diameter wheels gives the larger-diameter wheels a HUGE unfair width advantage.
Road and Track did one years ago where they not only gave the larger diameters a width advantage, but also gave the larger diameters much higher-performance tires! With each step up in wheel diameter, they went wider *and* went to a higher-performance tire! Talk about stacking the deck...
I'll stick with 14 lb. 14x7 Enkei 92s and 20 lb. Hoosier 225/50-14s for track duty in the 240Z...

urrr that measurement is the diameter of the rim plus the tire, and has nothing to do with width.
they used a 9.5" width in the back on the 19's and an 8.5" on the back of the 18's, thats a 25.4 mm difference in width. tire sizes were 20mm larger in the front and 30 mm larger in the rear on the 19's difference was absolutely stacked.
oh and they ran a lower offset on the 19's which depending on the test can have some benefit as well since it essentially widens the track of the car as well.

As diameter increases so does width, this test represents whats available in the real world. Your options are more limited when trying to increase rim diameter while maintaining tire width and the tire outer diameter dimension.

i call that a cop out, considering you can easily get those widths and tire size for 18's. Point is they could have done a much better job keeping the variables to a minimum, which is literallly elementary science procedure.

Oh, heaven forbid they use a wheel that's 4mm wider. I'm sure that .6% of extra width on the 18" wheel makes all the difference in the world.
The front is 20mm wider and the rear is 30mm wider.
