Default 18 x 7.5 all round

I know this has been discussed before but just wanted to get some additional information if i could.

I just picked up a set of wheels; trouble is they are all 7.5J.

Now i know this is not ideal and i should be preferably be looking for an 8.5J rear wheel but was just wondering to what extent the negative effect of these wheels will be, given the stock Ap1 rear wheel is also 7.5J

If i run these with a decent tyre set up like say 215/40/R18 front and 225/40/R18 rear on a good brand of tyres how much effect would it have on the performance of the car?

Thanks for the input in advance

You won't be getting much if any improvement over the AP1's. Sure slightly stiffer sidewall with the 18's but you are increasing front grip without increasing rear grip so this will make it more apt to oversteer. From a look perspective assuming the offset are the same the front wheels will look more pushed out that the rear and IMO that skinny of a tire on the rear looks silly. What kind of wheels are they? I would try and look for 2 that are wider for the rear and sell 2 of the ones you have.

Thanks for the reply man

They are works xsa wheels, quite rare to find a genuine set over here

Not sure how easy it would be to find two wider rears but I'll certainly keep an eye

One thing I definetly wouldn't want is more chance of oversteer, god knows there's enough of the that in the ap1 as it is!

Might be time to consider selling up and keep on looking

I would, just from a performance standpoint. The stagger isn't ideal, plus you can fit so much more wheel/tire under the car with the proper offset that these just seem to be far from the mark. If your not picky about performance and you just like to cruise around for the most part and like the looks of the wheels then don't worry about it.
