Uneducated guess here..but considering that the car is 50/50 a couple of things:
1) 1" smaller in the front will 'dip' the front slightly, causing an imbalance in handling
2) The suspention was build for equal heights on the wheels, refer to #1
3) Over/Understeer is already an asspain when auto-xing, I'm unsure as to what the difference will be with a mix-set like that.
4) Why bother? Just got 17's or 18's on all 4?

so long as the over all diameter of the wheel and tire is the same there shouldn't be any reason why. There will be some minor issue with the difference in sidewall height front to rear but really nothing 99% of s2000 owners will be able to notice.
BTW the NSX comes from the factory w/ 17" fronts and 18" rears.

I ran 17's front, 18's rear for a year with no problems whatsoever and the diameter wasn't
matched to boot. You can't go with too much of a deviation but I ran 205/45/17
and 225/40/18 and the ABS light never came on or worked improperly (I put it
to use).
Now that the S2000 has been out longer, there are more wheels available than
during that period and I'd recommend going with 17's all around.
