Default 19" wheel offsets?

Ok, so a friend of mine just got an 05 GPW and he is set on getting 19s (despite my telling him it is a bad idea). I have told him the only way to get 19s to fit is to go custom (hre, ect..) because with a 19x9 or 19x9.5 wheel he will need an offset of about +65 right? Please let me know if I am correct or not!

I have seen pics of some sweet HRE's with these numbers:F19x8.5 +53off on 245/35/19; R19x10 +69 off on 285/30/19 (sorry, don't have the link handy...). car weas lowered probably 1" +...just a pic, so i can confirm/deny rubbing issues... fit looked perfect, though! +65 offset is correct for the rear, minimum. I've done some research on what is available for the S in this size, and its disheartening, to say the least. Custom is most likely your most realistic choice... expect a 4K + price however (wheels only)...If the car is driven moderately hard (as it should be!) you are probably looking at <8000 mi treadlife on the rear as well...But if you got the 'ching-ching' for this bling, knock yourself out!

Yeah I know that 4k + is out of his range. Thanks for the reply
