Default 215 vs 225

For the stock 17" rims, do most people that go from 215 to 225 in the front also go to 255 in the rear or is it equally fine to run 225 in front and 245 in the rear ?

Is there considerable difference in handling by the 10mm or just more so on the looks?

Thanks,

It really depends on the tire. Not all tires are created equally. For example, the OEM 215 RE050 has the contact patch of a 195. Switching to a 225 of a different tire will increase the contact patch pretty significantly.

a 225/245 setup would decrease understeer and/or increase oversteer

I'm running an RE050APP 225/255 setup on the factory 17's and I'm very happy with it.

Project22a is right on the money. It just depends on the tire. Both will work on the car with no problems. If I can help with a specific tire just let me know.

im guessing the logic is, less contact patch on the ground so its easier for the back to slip out.

You're shifting more of your grip to the front. It may not necessarily *increase* oversteer in a literal sense, but it will decrease understeer, if that's what you find present in the car. It's all a delicate balancing act.

actually that will improve the handling if u got enought skill to power slight over at a really tight corner with hight speed.

check out those JDM s2000's
j's racing or spoon.
they all had them 255 all around ...

so by going bigger up front will cause the car to oversteer a bit more.. lets say a 215/245 vs a 225/245 the second option would over steer more?
