Thanks Jim but I've gone with the Michelins. Going by the numbers it seems like the better tire. Placed my order by internet for the Dunlops Monday, changed my mind and called you guys and switched to the Michelins. Sorry for the hassle, and thanks for the service. Went with 225/50 after all as it was the recommended size for the car.

Be careful with the 225/50R16 tires. They have nowhere near the contact patch as the OEM S02 225/50R16 tires. You can expect much more oversteer. Making sudden side to side steering maneuvers can be tricky.

i lined the Yokahoma AVS-I45 245/45/16 next to the OEM rear and the AVS looked wider to me.

Anybody know what the tread width of the tires are that Cape Cod ended up with? I wasn't able to find the tread widths of any Michelin tire.

Thanks,
john

Cape Cod,

Can you please measure the tread width on the Michelin front and rears you just got? I can't find the info. I am also interested in the tires.

Thanks,
john

I don't have them mounted yet. At tirerack.com select "by brand" and then find them. The spec. sheet (a little box near the top to click on) has all the particulars. I just remembered I wrote them down. Here we go: MPSA/S 205/55/ 8.6" [ S02 8.1"] 225/50 9.0" [S02 9.2"]. So it looks by these numbers that it's more an issue of the fronts being wider than stock set up. If stock set up has l.l" wider rears, then the MPSA/S is only 0.4" wider. All in all, I will probably be fine considering I am now getting along fine on the OEM tires at 17,000+ (rears are looking scary though) and it was 30 degrees here last night. My main desire was rubber that gripped in the cold. The So2 feels like hard plastic on the highway when cold.....and they seem to stay cold forever. Let me know if you get them and we'll compare notes.
