Default 275/35/18 Square

So I'm doing the LS swap and I'm trying to decide what size wheel/tire I want to run. Car will be making close to 500 to the wheels with a similar torque number. Currently I'm thinking an 18x11 +55 square set up with 275/35s. I'm doing downforce front fenders. Because obviously. As far as the rears go, I'm thinking flares.

Gonna try to keep the ride height as close to stock as possible. Maybe just a little drop when I do coilovers.

Thoughts?

295/30/18 in back. Closer to stock diameter and wider. The 275 is a little taller could work for the front though.

Would an extreme summer 295 pinch on an 11" wide wheel? I'm also tossing around 285/30 since it is a little shorter than a 275/35.

Run enkei pf01 18x10.5 +47 square with 285/30. Or enkei pf01 18x9.5 +45 with a 255/35 and 18x10.5 +47 with a 295/30. If I go FI again I would think that'd be a nice setup.

When dealing with a really wide setup you are usually better off staggered because of available clearance. A couple critiques:

1. 11" +55 won't fit the front, not enough clearance on the INSIDE. You would need something like a 11" +40 to clear inner suspension components. 10" is really all you need up front, still could run up to a 275 tire with Downforce fenders. Sidewall profile could be an issue when dealing with 265 or 275 width, kind of an in between size if that makes sense.

2. You can run up to a 295/30 tire on a 11" +65 rear wheel with just a fender roll, no over fenders needed. Now if you just want the look then that's fine but go with a lower offset to compensate.

You can click the link in my sig for pics of my setup if you want. 245/35, 285/30 on stock body with just a fender roll. 285/30 has a slight stretch on a 11" wheel, 295/30 would be nicely square. S2000junky is running 255/35, 295/30 on stock body. If going with custom spec wheels, no aftermarket fenders are necessary unless you want the "look" and/or run wider tires than 255/295.

Excellent info. So a 10" wheel with a 285/30 would clear the rears with a +50 or +55 since I'm losing 25mm off the wheel width yes? Would a 10" wheel solve the issue of rubbing on the inside up front?

Not the best picture but these are 18x11 +64 with 285-30-18, fronts 18x9 1/2 +55 245-35-18 Fender roll only no rubbing.

There are a lot of variables here, you need to figure out your end goal and go from there.

Do you want max tire fitment on a stock body? Redline S2K and I are running the exact same specs which you would have to duplicate within a couple mm.

Non-staggered with Downforce front and rear overfenders? Mentioned by clarkster009, ideal fit would be something like 10.5" +45 with 285/30. I am not an expert on Downforce fitment, seems like a 285/30 would be pushing the limit of available clearance. That would be the determining factor of a non-staggered setup, figuring out the exact specs for the front and then just settle with that for the rear as well.

Even if you go with wider fenders, I'd still stick with a staggered setup. 255/295 should give you all the grip you want. With the wider fenders, for staggered I'd go 10" +40 to +45 front and 11.5" +45 to +50 rear.
