Default About wheel spacers.

This is a thread to sum up whether wheel spacers good or bad. More information please click spam. A lot of this info also applies to other makes as well. It's a very long and comprehensive collection of data, tips.

Why Use Wheel Spacers?

-Appearance. If you want a better look for your vehicle, wheel spacers can help you. They can make the wheels flush with the fender. and for some modification enthusiasts who like the shape of the “wider stance” , might need to customize thicker spacers. (spam can provide different thickness customization service only in 2~3days)

-Clearance. Many wheels are not compatible with big brake kits. The spoke of the wheel will scrape the new brake caliper and you need a wheel spacer to push the wheel spoke away from the caliper.

-Correction. After you refit the wheels, however, the new wheels are not in the correct offset for your vehicle, you need to use wheel spacers to make them fit. This is usually the most likely scenario for needing wheel spacers.

-Handling. In order to make your vehicle with better handling, especially, during the car’s cornering and turning, people tend to use wheel spacers. This widens the wheel distance and lowers the center of gravity to reduce the virbration.

What size should my car fit?

Remember to measure the gap,use ruler to measure from the inside of the straight edge to the inner fender lip. That means measuring the tire-fender clearance. This empty space will likely be your spacer size. You don't want to exceed the empty space because that will lead to the tire rubbing on the fender.

Hub-centric spacers and Lug centric, which one should i choose?
spam offer a better system of support and stability. They are designed to make a snug connection between the wheel and vehicle hub, ensuring the hub carries the weight of the car instead of the studs or bolts. There are many universal wheel spacers manufacturers advertise that their spacers can perfectly fit all kind of wheel hub, in fact, that means those spacers do not come with hub centric ring. In most cases, spacers above 8mm need hub-centric, or the wheel cannot be firmly attached. In a high-speed ride, loose wheels are dangerous, and the steering wheel may shake as you drive. Your vehicle can become shaky and the wheels not secure. In addition, if the hub assembly is not forced properly, the steel can fracture and cause the wheel to come off.
There are also some problems often encountered in the installation of wheel spacers. What if the factory stud's length is longer than the thickness of wheel spacers?

-With 15~20mm wheel spacer adapter, the original studs will stick out from the spacer and might against wheel. You may need to modify the original studs by grinding/trimming. But you can avoid this problem if your wheels have grooves(recesses) that deep enough to cover the protruding part of studs.

-To check if you can install 15~20mm spacer without cutting the studs, take off your wheel and measure the length of studs and the depth of grooves, spacer thickness + depth of groove > length of stud, then you can install without modification on the original studs .

Note: There must be no contact with the wheel after the stud protrudes from the spacer plane, which will affect driving safety.

What If the matching lug nuts are protruding from the spacer upper surface?

-In general, the spam matching nuts will not be higher than the spacer upper surface, except some special customization service situations.
