Default advan s4 on ap1

well, im close to going with the re750's for the rear of my ap1, with the 245/45/16 size as recommended, but i came across the advan s4 and the yokohoma s drive recently.

first before i ask questions, let me tell about my driving style.
1. i commute about 80 miles daily, around 450 - 500 miles a week.
2. i love performance summer tires, but starting full time grad school and no job, i dont want to be changing tires too often, so i am looking for a good balance between performance and treadwear. i dont track, but i do drive very spiritedly, esp on any turn whatsoever (who loves the loop thingies on the freeway?!)

so.. my questions are..

a. the advan s4 only comes in 225/50/16 size. would that be ok, or would the tread width be too narrow and affect handling..

b. advan s4 vs. re750.... the s4 has some really good specs on tirerack..but not many people use it yet.. i wonder why...size issue?

c. the s.drive is a new tire, any thoughts on how it would be? (that is are yokohoma's good overall: cornering, wet, noise, treadwear). It also appears to have a decent tread width at the stock 225/50/16 size.

and if you guys have any other recommendations... i searched and the kumho spt came up as well..im starting to get overwhelmed by the amount of information both here and on tirerack, so any little bit of help will make a difference..

thanks in ADVANce. ..

a. 225/50-16 = OK

b. Advan S4s are all-seasons. IF you won't be driving on snow/ice/extreme cold, go with Summer tires.

c. No survey data on the S.drive at tirerack.com. Dunno how it would compare
UTQG of 300 is similar to RE750's 340 treadwear.

Personally, if longevity is a concern, I'd go with the RE750s in 205/55-16 F, 225/50-16 on the stock wheels. If you prefer to go with the 245/45-16 rears, you *might* consider going 205/50-16 for the fronts. I went that route with my Hankook RS2's on 7" front/8" rear wheels. Looks bitchin.
205/55-16s are ~.3" bigger in diameter than 245/45-16 and 205/50s are ~.5" smaller. Going w/ 205/50s up front avoids the "big fronts/little rears" look, and isn't a much bigger OD difference f/r.

I have driven the RE750's on my own car and they were very good. I sold the car with about 18K on the tires and they still looked like new. They are better in the wet than the OE tire and they are quieter and more comfortable as well.
The Advan S4 would give you longer tread life but you will give up performance wet and dry.
If I can help let me know.
