Default Advice for measuring offset

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for advice on how to measure the offset of my CE28's. I looking to up grade my front calipers soon and just want to be on the safe side by measuring the wheels first.

I believe that I need to measure the distance from where the wheel meets the hub/disc face to the centre line ( This is the part I'm not sure about) Of either the rim ( measured from front lip to back lip) or the tyre contact patch. Will I need to have the tyre taken off to measure this, to ensure I get the exact centre of the wheel.

Any advice would be greatly received

taking the tire off definitely makes it easier but is not necessary if you just want to get close like 1-2 mm off at most. What you can do measure how far off the ground the hub face is, then measure the overall width of the tire on the wheel since the center line of the tire will/should be the centerline of the wheel too.

Take the width of the tire/wheel combo and divide it in half. You then subtract the hub face distance - half the tire/wheel width.

Lets say your overall width is 10" so the half of that is 5". Let's say you hub face is 3" off the ground. You would take 5" - 3" which would be 2"

each inch is 25.4 mm so your offset in my fake case would be 50.8

Hope I didn't confuse you

No I understand you perfectly My main concern about measuring from outside lip to inside lip was incase these lips were not the same size and that would move the centre line position. But I wasn't sure if measuring the center on the tyre/ contact patch would do the same thing. I know the CE28's come in a few offsets in 17" so If I just want to know before I buy anything as I'd hate to have to use spacers
