ALIGNMENT INFOS NEEDED....
No answers in "Racing and Comp."maybe more luck here...
Recently installed Kg/mm Supersport springs and Koni yellow(lower perch),and I'm now due for an alignment.
What is best for street driving, and occasional auto-x:OEM,or U.K.specs.
Pros.and Cons.
Thanks.

I had the UK optimum geo on my 00 and it was absolutely glued to the road round corners.

Thank you guys for the answers.
So,what you recommend are the Geo.optimum settings.
The shop where I go has a Hunter laser machine;can they work with those settings,or do they have to be translated ?
Emil.

Can't answer on the Hunter kit. But yes it does wear the inside edge (especially the rears) more. It just means you'll have to do more corners!
You can swap the tyres across the axle from one alloy to the other to even the wear out if you want. Though some have said the wear pattern can affect the handling when they are swapped and running the opposite direction.

OK, I read the thread linked in here and now I'm confused.
I have never heard the term Geo.optimum before this post. Looking at the numbers bandied around in the thread I didn't get a sense that they had come to a conclusion of one set of numbers over another.
Did I understand it to say that we only want -0.30 camber front and -1.3 camber rear?
I have been using a modified UK alignment for years, and it's worked! Do we have new numbers?

No new numbers. They are those provided by HUK.
99/01 Preffered
99/01 Optimum
04 Preferred
What isn't clear is whether the 02/03 can take either of hte 99/01 settings and whether the 04 can take the optimum settings
I'm going to ask HUK!

Would it be too much to ask someone to simplify it for my little brain and post all three in the same post not scattered all over a thread? (also I had trouble reading the post of the Honda bulletin)
I have trouble with the difference between the words Preferred and Optimum. They are too close together in meanings for my feeble brain to clearly differentiate. I am guessing that OPTIMUM is for more of the track junkies and PREFERRED is the Dual duty settings?
And of course I have an 02 which has no Optimum or Preferred settings.
The phrase Optimum.geo (ometry) and the way it is used makes me think they are talking about some different pieces as well. I feel like I have come in on the middle of a conversation and everyone knows what's going on but me. Have I missed something and if we mix and match parts from different years we can get a better suspension geometry? If so where's that post?
I try to keep up, but this thread makes me think I have missed out on some important info while I was slumbering. Maybe it is just new terminology for me.
If I am reading more into this than it really is, would somebody please just tell me that there is no new info or parts, just some refined data on Alignment settings.

The geo settings do not need any parts changing to move from one to the other. However there are subtle difference in the suspension for model to model and maybe even market to market. (USDM, EUDM, JDM)
IIRC HUK issued the optimum settings to address the trend for the back end of the early UK cars letting go. Audi did the same with the first TT's. What they did was increase the rear camber to make it harder to reach the limit of grip. The trade off is uneven tyre wear and less warning when it does decide to go. Chose based on your driving style
I have asked for confirmation of the settings from HUK for each year and whether they can be applied to different model years.
I'd like to see them all in one post as well!
