Default ap1 16inch wheels vs ap2 17inch

Hey guys.

Question: Shouldn't the ap1 be faster because it has 16 inch wheels (which i assume would weigh less) over the ap2 since it has 17 inch wheels?

I'm not looking for exact measurements but I'd say its a good half a car quicker down the 1/4 mile? Thats just a total guess ofcourse.

Has anyone got both versions to test? =]

There was nothing stupid about your post.

If in fact the AP2 wheels are heavier, which they should be, the car with the AP1 wheels would be a hair faster. Unsprung weight, like rotating mass, has a larger affect on acceleration than sprung weight.

if you took Ap1 wheels and put them on an Ap2 then theoretically that Ap2 would be faster than another stock Ap2. that weight in the grand scale of differences between ap1/ap2 will not make the Ap1 faster however.

Actually dori-king (Keichii Tsuchiya) did a test on best motoring.

The ap2 wheels are actually lighter than the ap1 wheels.

They put the ap2 wheels on an ap1 s2k and it clocked a slightly faster time on the track they were testing at.

They put the ap1 wheels on an ap2 s2k and it clocked a slightly slower time on the track they were testing at. It didn't match up with the 04 suspension geometry.

that's on a track tho, i'm sure sidewall flex, tire grip and some other factors come up that don't account for accurate results.

jesus, they think of testing everything!
that was an AWESOME reply dtang21. You don't have a series number or something of that best motoring episode do you? Wouldn't mind downloading it.
