Just picked up a set of Ap2 wheels, they are by no means perfect but I plan on using these for my track wheels.
Little bit on curb rash but overall not bad 255 looks like a lot more rubber, only 30mm but still, I’m expecting a pretty good increase in traction at my next auto cross
Why not? Perfect your skills and look at what tires the winners are running.
Reminder: Any tire you can get from Tire Rack you can get from Discount Tire for the same price. (Discount Tire owns Tire Rack but they run as separate businesses.)
Run your current 16" and tires and the 17" wheels and tires back to back so you can form some opinions on handling and compare times.
I mounted the ap2 wheels today and, wow. I’m struggling to put a number on it but the difference is a lot. I went to my local skid pad and I can hold a lot more speed in a turn. The combination of the Hankook tires and bigger wheels have improved the handling feel and the grip. The ride quality is better too. So at least 3x better. The only negative might be a subtle lose in response.
Comparison pic with the old wheels/tires. I’ll always love the Ap1 rims so I may play around with them I think that looks better Wheels make such a change to the overall look of a car
Now these tires went from A to B but, they are cheap for a reason. The ride quality is terrible, I thought my shocks were blown. They also lose all traction in the wet, and in the FL panhandle we get a lot of rain. Running my first autoX on them was like being on ice, sliding in the front and the rear. It took a lot of work stick a decent line.
The lugs where chunking a lot The outside edge of the rears got roasted. This was what had me wanting to dial in some more Neg camber.
Thanks for the photos. Not surprising that the cheap (not merely inexpensive) Kelly Edge all-seasons didn't handle the skid pad or Autocross well. Typical Walmart or Amazon tire. About $76 each on Amazon. Where and when were they made?
I think those AP2V2 wheels update the look of the car -- as long as you don't bugger them by painting them black which makes it look like someone stole the wheel covers.

ill have to check the date. They looked fine when I sought the car but they did not like the heat of track use in the FL heat.
I am looking into have the v2 wheels refurbished. I found a shop in Panama City. The front right wheel has a minor bend (didn’t notice when I bought or washed them) that I’d like to get fixed, plus the curb rash on the edge.
speaking of paint, I have considered stripping the 5 spokes and hitting the with a gun metal, I think that could look good against the yellow.
