Default Basic offset qustions...

Please pardon my ignorance, I've read the library info and the info on tirerack.com so I understand what offset is and how it's measured but how does it impact performance? In the ASA Wheel thread, it's stated the an offset of +42 won't work for the fronts in the s2k? Why is that? Why is +63 in the back good? Any explanation, references to additional internet info, articles or even books would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The lower the offset is the further out to the fender it will sit. The S2K uses a very high positive offset.
If you have any other questions just give me a call.
Thank you

just for your information, I am running 16 inch Volk te 37's with a +42 offset on the front and back with stock rubber and have not had any problems at all. My car is not lowered.
This set up works great! Not only is it cheaper ( stock rubber)
the rims are 11.3 lbs each and it tracks wider for noticably better handling.
no rubbing at all but I have not put it on the track yet.
