BBS RGR 18" Setup - Any issues?
Hi there,
On my wheel search, I have narrowed it down to Volk TE37 and BBS RGR. I think I like the RGR better, so was wondering about the following setup.
18x7.5 Front
Tire Size: 225/40-18
Wheel Offset: 50mm
18x8.5 Rear
Tire Size: 255/35-18
Wheel Offset: 53mm
Does anyone know if I will have any rubbing issues with the following setup? Also, has anyone around here ran this setup without lowering their car? I would like to avoid lowering if at all possible, but want to avoid tat "4x4" look.
If I have to lower, I was thinking of getting the Eibach Pro-Kit springs (1" drop all around). Would this cause any rubbing or adverse issues?
Thanks in advance everyone!

Jim - what about if I also install the Eibach Pro-Kit springs for a 1" drop? Will I have any rubbing issues with 225 and 255r setup?
I am planning on buying these from you (as well as the Dunlop Wintersport M3's
)

I had that exact setup on my S... 18" RGR with Eibach.
The fronts rubbed during cornering and braking.
The larger diameter tires bogged my car down so much that I had to go for 4.44 gears.
The wider front tires caused oversteer, even with a stiffer Saner sway bar.
Go with 17", it is better all around.

I think the rubbing issues come from the fact that there's a 225 tire on a 7.5" wheel. A 215 would keep the tire from looking slightly bubbled.
So maybe it makes sense to go the BBS LM route with 225 / 255 tire setup as such:
Size Selected: 18x8 Front
Tire Size: 225/40-18
Wheel Offset: 50mm
21.7 lbs.
Size Selected: 18x9.5 Rear
Tire Size: 255/35-18
Wheel Offset: 55mm
22.5 lbs.
Will this eliminate the front end rubbing with the 1" drop?
If you roll the fender you have to remove (or cut up) the plastic fender liner, I didn't want to do that.
215 front tires would probably help but there are only a few tire choices in that size.
Make sure you get rear tires that are close to the same diameter as the stock tires, there really isn't anything in 18" that is close though. Our car has limited torque, so the diameter makes a big difference, even a few percent can be felt.
In the end you're going to be disappointed with the acceleration and handling of 18", if you care about those.
