the OZ Ultraleggra was something i have been looking into, but i'm not sure if i'm ready to try an 18" wheel on North Carolina roads (they suck!)
Tire rack does not show a 17" for the S2000 but is there any way to compromise on an available 17" Ultraleggra with little notice of the compromise?

Call Tire Rack and ask for Jim. He's the expert on tires for the S2000, and will definitely be able to recommend 17in tires.

There is no such thing as ''Best for everybody".
It's a matter of preferences and tastes.!!!
ie:What's the best food, the best car,the best GIRL....

Oh I understand that. I just mean as far as wheel and tire size and offset. Obviously oem or they wouldn't have done it. But for aftermarket.....

one of the more popular setups are the Volk CE28n

17 x 7.5 + 50
17 x 9 +63
This, in my opinion is the PERFECT wheel for the S2000. they fit perfectly, are incredibly light weight and are probably the strongest wheels for the car that you can buy.
