The Tire Rack is now handling the Brembo brake kits for the S2K.
You can check them out on our web site.

Can you PM me with price and availability on the Gran Turismo kit for the S2000 as the information is not currently available on your site.

The Grand Turismo Kit is 2494.00. It is available with black, red or silver calipers.
Let me know if I can help.

Hi Jim -

Honest question, no slur intended, I assure you.

As I recall, Comptech originally had Brembo brakes on its "factory" car. This setup was used in a multi-tuner write up in one of the big trade rags (maybe R&T or C&D). At that time, the Brembo brakes actually had a longer stopping distance than the standards because of an issue with brake pumps, and/or ABS not cycling quick enough.

Is it safe to assume that this issue has been resolved?

I'm interested as well

I think the issue is the master cylinder not having enough girth for the larger calipers. I would also think that unless there is a rear kit being offered, the brake bias would be skewed forward, making the rear lighter and the tail step out. Maybe proportioning valve could remedy this. I believe Comptech sells the Lotus caliper kit for the S. Is the GT a larger kit, or is it using the lotus caliper?

We will have the product available and on line soon. They are a 2 piece drilled Gran Turismo kit. 328X28mm front brake kit with 4 piston calipers. Can be used for street and track. Brembo brakes are used on everything from NASCAR to Formula 1. They come with the stainless braided brake lines and all hardware.
The net result is a braking system developed specifically for your application.

to be brutally honest, gentleman, as cool as jim at tirerack may be, i'd be very weary of buying from someone who says "brembo brakes are used on everything from nascar to formula 1" as a basis for spending mucho dollars on something 99.9 percent of us don't need. looks sweet, though.

where are the tests? numbers?

just think through who's telling you this and what's his/her interest and you tell me if you've had any complaints with the stock braking system outside of fluids, lines, and pads (much cheaper to swap out).

i've bought stuff from tirerack before and will continue to buy tires from them through the s2ki.com link as i really love this board and most of its sponsors, but anything outside of that, stick close to the big guns on this board (owner-sellers). i mean honestly, all those rims they say fit the s2000 do not. it's really kinda funny.

and what was that? the net result is a braking system specifically designed or whatever for our cars? funny. it comes factory that way and I already paid for that schmidt.

peace.
