If was under the impression that by using a stock suspension/springs combo we could only give as much as 1.7-2.0 in the front and 1.9-2.2 (?) in the rear. (numbers are not absolute but the range is somewhere around there)

IIRC thats if the car is at stock height. When you lower it geometry changes and you can add more camber
My comment was mostly about s2k dre's post about being able to -3.0 camber on stock suspension.
