Default Car pulling to right....

Jim,

My S2000 pulls to the right after an alignment. Same pull regardless of braking, throttle application or coasting.

Don't remember if it did it before alignment. Tech says camber and toe were set equal on both sides. Didn't give me a printout. I don't have a reason to doubt him, but for other reasons, don't completely trust him either.

Tires are 225/40-18 Star Spec in front. Tires were used of another car and have slightly different wear amounts and patterns.

I've learned how sensitive the S2k is to any slight difference in R and L side tires.

Bringing it in for alignment today. If the alignment is OK I assume then it's the tires causing the pulling to the right.

Question: If it's pulling to the right, and it's because of a tire issue, does that mean it's the right side tire causing it? I have another Star Spec to replace it with if that's it.

Thanks.

Well, I had it aligned yesterday. The front camber was way off. -1.6 right and -0.2 on the left. That explains the pulling. He now set it to -1.1 on each side at my request.

He also told me that with the camber at -1.1 he can't get the toe to zero. He can get it to 0.02 on each side.

Lastly, the amount that camber was off was about the same last time I had it done, so, is that just coincidence? Or do I have a bent suspension piece?

There are many factors that can contribute to a pull including but not limited to : Alignment angles, tire pressure, tire tread depth, road surface, passenger weight, worn/damaged suspension components.

If the car drives straight after the alignment i would leave it at that. If not, you might try checking out some of the other possible factors.

Tire pressure is almost always the culprit. Make sure the left and right match. Bent/worn suspension would surely cause problems as well so get under there and check it out.

If the tires were used on a different vehicle that can be the problem as well. The wear pattern from the other car can be worn into the tires.
