Default change rear only...ok or bad idea

When I bought my car the rear tires had a small amount of tread (oem S02) the front tires seem pretty good. I have managed to get the dealership to pay for new rear tires for the car but I'm sure I want to stay with the S02's. This car is my daily driver and I think it's a bit scary in the rain. I'm considering getting S03's or Michelin Pilot Sport Allseasons. Is this a bad idea? Should I do all 4 or just do the rears for now. I don't drive too aggresively and have no plans on any racing. Thanks for any advice...

Andy

Take a look at this thead: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=98420
I think you'd get the best value by just replacing your rears and then waiting till your second set of rears are worn out and then replace all 4 tires at that time. From what I've read most owners are going through 2 sets of rears to 1 set of fronts.

If you ask Tire Rack they will tell you that there is a warning not to have different tires on the front and rear. Their testing showed dangerous handling characteristics when this is done.

I have to agree. The best handling would be to have the same tire on all four corners. The S03 with the S02 is not too bad but the Pilot Sport AS and the S02 would be a really bad idea.
Gloffer is right. Go with the S02 and then change all four tires together the next time.
If I can help let me know.
