Is changing from the stock setup DANGEROUS
Hi all,
I have done alot of reading about tires...as I am ordering the MY04 wheels for MY00!! I was going to go for Toyo Proxes or Goodyear Eagle F1 tires but then I heard and read a bit about this being "dangerous" and that the S2000 was meant to only run bridgestone? Now, I know alot of S2000 owners do not run bridgestones and seem to be fine? But, for an everyday driver who drives hard sometimes would I be much better to stick to a s03 for MY00?
Sorry if this seems like a silly question...just that I don;t know the answer!!
Thanks so much as always for the help,
Adrian

many run without Bridgestone , you'll be fine
it's just the size is what you don't want to compromise..
If you stay towards Front 205/55-16 and Rears 225/50-16's you should be fine.
head over the tires and wheels and they should be able to help sort you out..

Plenty people run upgraded wheels and even put 04 wheels on pre 04 cars with no problems. The cars are almost identical except for the suspension so making a change like this is no biggie. I would stick with either bridgestone or Kumho tires. The larger rears from the 04's should help with some oversteer as well.

You can run other brands of tire without prolems. Just be sure you have the same type of tire on the front and rear. Don't run different brands/models and mismatch or you are asking for trouble.
Many of us use the car as a daily driver and HAVE to get a harder compound tire. Just know that you won't stick as well in the corners with a harder tire, and you'll be okay.
One benefit of "aftermarket" tires is better control in the WET, which we seem to be getting alot of lately.
