Default Changing Tire Sizes

I'm running 245/45/16 in the back on a stock suspension and wheels. It is almost time to change out all 4 tires, and I want to get the Kumho SPT, but they only offer 245/50/16 for the rear. I want to stick with the stock stagger.

Will it dramatically affect my performance if I get the bigger Kumho tires? Thanks in advance.

It's a 1/2 increase in rolling diamter. Your car will be a 1/4 inch higher in the rear, but you will also shrink your wheel gap by a quarter inch. You will also increase the rake of your car (lean down slightly in the front). I recently put on AP1 rims and tires on my AP2 with fronts that were too short (205/50 instead of 55), and the car felt "wobbly" at the limit.

Can you get a front that will be slightly taller as well? I think matching the front and rear heights is more important than staying with the exact stock rolling diameter.

And yes, cornering will suffer slightly. You will be elevating the cars center of gravity and softening the sidewalls. But I doubt it will even be noticeable unless you push it. (And don't push it on the streets - if I can ever get my car put back together-I might come get that testpipe)
