Default Completed confused!

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to purchase a set of 17" wheels for my '01 Berlina Black (and I don't fancy AP2 wheels), but I'm really struggling. Every time I spot something nice, the low offsets or width of the wheels put me off. I've made use of the pinned fitment guide above and wheel and tyre size calculator, to no avail. I'm also unsure of the stock wheel arch clearance (i.e how wide the wheels can be before they are no longer covered by the arches). Having entered the S2K scene from years of classic Mini ownership, I'm feeling a little out of my depth.

A set of 17x8.25 et35 front, 17x9.75 et30 rear wheels on 235/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear tyres have caught my eye. I'm aware the offset is too low (although the true implications of this are lost on me). My car is currently at stock height with stock brakes. How badly will these wheels rub? Will they poke out of the arches? Some insight would be much appreciated

Those offsets suck. Take a look at Enkei PF01, 17x8 +50 front with 17x9 +60 rear, easy 225/255 tire fitment with no worries.

Those will poke a lot.

If you're not planning on rolling the fenders, you can run a 17x9 +60 or higher.

If you are willing to roll, you can run a 17x9 +45.

I had a feeling they might. What is the stock arch clearance for an AP1?

I'm want to avoid rolling, so I suppose finding wheels I like with high offsets is my only choice...these cars are tricky to buy wheels for!

they are not tricky to buy wheels for, you are just looking at low quality wheels.

arch clearance is not a viable measurement. you need to compare the widths and offsets simultaneously. check out willtheyfit.com

Thanks. I've been using wheel-size.com, which has a similar calculator, in order to wrap my head around the offset/width implications.

I should probably add that I'm on a seriously tight budget, hence I'm browsing for second-hand wheels produced by less prestigious manufacturers. At this end of the market, the pickings certainly feel slim. Perhaps I should just wait a few more months until I can afford something suitable.

i would recommend checking out site that sell good wheels used/second hand and wait out until a deal pops up. like JDM Wheels Rims Japan Best Advan, Work, SSR, Enkei, AME, Volk i've never bought wheels from them, but they have so cool stuff coming though occasionally. or another similar shop thats local to you.
