Default Dented my front fender with new wheels.. need help

Hey guys, well, I just put my new wheels on and the fronts are a little wider than my old wheels, they are 18x8" with a 225/40/18 on them. Due to my VERY steep driveway and that my car is lowered I damaged the passenger fender as soon as I went to drive back up the driveway . I snapped a few pics of the damage, I need some advice on what I can do to fix this. Is it possible to roll the front fenders? I have heard that some people cut the tab on the inside of the fender, are they refering to the bigger metal piece that I bent down that you can see in the pics? Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this would be appreciated. I was thinking of heating the inside of the fender, bending it back, and then to dremel it out to get some extra clearance. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

You could cut it but then your fender liner wouldn't have anything to bolt/screw onto. Although it doesn't appear your fender liner is there anymore? I'd get skinnier (215?) tires or better offsets on the front to correct the issue though.

this is from caster and turning uphill

when u go uphill compresses front susp.. when u turn caster kicks out the turn out wheel.

so turn out+compression=grabbing fender..

i had this problem too.. do not cut anything ebcause then it will cut tire=flat.

push it back down using palm and forcefull hits.. move lil by lil till back.. then fold up the clip part up... way up and then roll the fender... so no blunt edge to grab..

fold like a U

my fronts are like this now..

i'm running 9" fronts but i bent that lip out with both the stock wheels and a set of 7.5" SSR's. have someone do it with the fender roller. the good ones can start out flat, then little by little, work it's way into a U shape like Riley said. that's what i did the last time.

Good Luck

I had the same thing happen to me just last week, except my fender was in slightly worse shape

When I saw it I was pissed. I removed the wheel, raised my suspension up only about 6 mm and got out a heat gun and a hammer. My fender liner had been "worn away" where the wheel had contacted it, but it was still intact enough to serve its purpose (it wasn't dangling or anything). I heated the fender just a bit in an effort to prevent the paint from chipping, covered the area with a cloth, then went to town with a hammer, gently re-forming the fender. The lip on the inner side of the fender that got bent outward, I took that and curled it up so that it is rounded upward like a "U" as was mentioned earlier. I managed to fix it to near perfection, which suprised me considering how badly it looked. The only paint that chipped was the paint on the underside of the fender where it is not visible (I slapped some touch up paint on that area to prevent rusting).

This should fix it reasonably well, it wont be perfect, but hardly noticeable.

You may be a good candidate for some wider front fenders.

Hope this helps.

-Aaron

Also, no rubbing since, even after some really hard cornering.

That's what happend to me..But i was carpooling with a rather large man. If you know a good place to roll fenders, they should be able to fix it. Mine was worst that yours. I'd recommend a place, but your on the other coast. Anyway its fixable. Go to a reputable place and they should be able to take care of it.
