Default Extended Wheel Studs

Is there another option outside of the ARP that comes recommended?

The ARP ones add a full inch to 2.850. I am afraid that that is too much, as my BBS wheels have a cover for the lug area. I currently only get about 3 rotations on the lug nut, so I need something longer. 1/2" would be ideal.

Searched with no success.

S2KI to the rescue please!!!!

depending on what BBS rims you have you can re-barrel them so you can change the offset so you wont have to use spacers and longer studs. Little more expensive of an option but well worth it if your rims will allow this.

Never thought of this. Not sure that would work though...They are a rare old school set of BBS by Stern. Originally made in 1996...

17x8+39 17x9+42

Here is a pic of them:

Do you have a shop you would reccomend since we are both in Chicago? Rough idea of cost?

(P.S. sorry about the other day)

Can u take a pic from the other side and post it. Want to see inside the rim and how it's pieced together. I don't have any contacts locally, Harry may, but many places offer this.

Sure thing! I will run by storage on lunch break. Would this process end up changing the actual size of the polished lip? Would they basically be moving the mounting point of the center piece outward?

It is the thickness of the mounting point that makes the studs not long enough...I am okay with how "flush" the wheels are, and don't mind the camber I will have to run for them. There is just not enough thread to seat the lug nuts because of how thick the center mounting of the BBS rim is against the rotor/hub.

I'm kinda rambling...lol. What I am trying to say is: No matter what the offset is/becomes, the thickness of the actual mounting area is what is causing the lug nuts to not tighten down enough. There is just not enough stud to get the lug onto.

I would think that longer studs would be the solution. Or having the back side of the rim where it mounts to the hub shaved down (is that even possible without compramising the integrity?).

Thanks for the help!

oh my bad I thought the longer studs were for running spacers. Yea then no reason to rebuild the rims.

Shaving that down is an option, I have never done that before myself, but its an option. Your going to take away from the rim so I wouldn't suggest it.

I would get the studs then and have someone cut them down to the correct size. This way you can tap them back out and not mess with your rims and easily go back to OEM studs if you ever need to. Most tuner shops close to you or any metal fabricator close will be able to do this in a matter of minutes

I need the opposite of spacers. They are going to sit very close to the fenders once I lower it a little (Pss9). Luckily I get a free fender roll all around, and pull in hte front from my Dent guy at the dealership I work at.

I agree that shaving it just seems sketch. Not worth the risk. If the ARPs end up too long I can have a tech here cut them and retap them. Thanks for the advice.

BUMP:

Stock stud length appears to be 1.850" and the ARP extended are 2.850"

Anyone know of any other brand's length?
