Default Fitment... Stress...

So here's the deal. I know one of you wheel size gurus out there know exactly what I need to know...

I want a set of 17" Volk te37 on my stock ap1. I will drop it about an inch but nothing crazy - keeping that in mind:

I am trying to figure out exactly what size wheels I need to avoid ANY fender modification at stock height or dropped an inch.

Wider is better and I do want the rear wheels to sit flush instead of sunk in that little bit.
I've really tried to figure out the sizes I need but there's a million suggestions out there.

So pretty much: 17". Flush. No fender mods. Safe with 1" drop.

Thanks so much for any help. And yes, I have read the sticky on tire/wheel sizes, but found that a lot of the wider set ups require fender modification.

It all comes down to the offset of the wheel's and how much camber your willing to run. I'm at +25 in the rear with a 18x10 inch wheel running 245/40/18 and -2.7 camber lowered about 2.25 inches. To me my fenders were pulled massively imo. If you go +45 and run a 35 series tire with a one inch drop I would be very surprised if you rub at all.

Impossible. Especially the rear has a huge inner fender lip and with a drop you simply can't get even close to flush without a roll. I know they used to make a 9.5" +65 for the rear which would work without a roll. With typical 8"/9" wheels you need offsets 55+ (closer to 60 would be better) or roll your fenders and run the common +45 which would be fairly flush.

To be flush you will need to roll your fenders. If you want to be lowered without fender mods then you need 17x9+63 with some 255/40/17.

As it was said already flush and no fender mods is not possible. The reason the oem wheels don't rub is because they aren't flush with the fender.

Okay forget the flush idea... I didn't really mean like h311@flushJdMyo. I meant like the rear wheels aren't recessed into the car. Imagine I added spacers to my stock wheels. That's basically what I want but I absolutely refuse whatsoever to have the fenders or quarter panels modified. The wheels should fit the car, the car shouldn't have to fit the wheels. Stock alignment as well.
That being said what are my options now?

The rear fender lip is 20mm, and the tabs that get snagged up front when you rub protrude about 15mm, so from there you should be able to deduct a width and offset that will get you nearest to these danger zones to get the most aggressive fitment without rolling fenders. Like many have said, you’re looking in the +55 range with a typical up size of F8/R9 rim width and basic camber alignment. This will look better then stock, but can’t be flush with the fenders obviously. On an ap1 you have 25mm more aggressive you can go from stock without rolling in the back and 20mm up front if you run some decent negative camber. On an ap2 its about 2/3 of this amount due to the wider wheels.
