Default General Question/Change dimensions

Hello guys,

I need your comments about the following:
"The larger the tire, the better the mileage tends to be and the smaller the tire, the less tread life will be."

I use my car for spirited street driving mostly and occasionally trackdays.
I use semi's all year long.
Should I be able to save more thread life if I switch my rears from 245/40 to 255/40?

Thanks in advance

Agree/disagree?
Did I say something wrong?

With the same tire, there wouldn't be a noticeable difference in treadwear just by changing 10mm in width. If you are concerned about treadwear, trade grip and choose a compound/tire designed more for long life. Like an all season tire of some sort.
