I have heard some very good things about the Continental DW's in the rain. These may be the best choice if you are going to be driving in heavy rain.

If you have something else to drive in bad weather the Dunlop's are hard to beat for the price.

I have also heard that the Hankook RS3's are pretty bad in the rain.

The RS-2 is what I've used since day one and love them. Now that the RS-3 has come out I'm having hard time finding them in the sizes I want 245/45 and 205/55 (16"). Those with 17" wheels will find them in 215 for front and 245 or 255 for rear options. I may have to get my some AP2 wheels!
You'll do WAY better on 205/225 StarSpecs than on RS2's in 205/245. For the RS3's, I wonder if they've found any wet grip vs. the RS2's...

You can forget the 245 "rule", btw.

I recently pruchased the Sumitomos HTRZ III, went up a size to 225 and 255's and really like them so far. I have about 1,000 miles on them and have noticed a very nice difference in the way the ride has improved & lower noise level from the original Bridgestones. They also performed very well in wet weather having just finised a trip through the NC mountains in a downpour with no traction issues at all. I was also very pleased with the handling as I came back on the same route in dry weather. I also like the look the slightly larger tire gives. So far I am very happy with them and considering putting them on my 08 Accord EXL when it needs tires in a few months.

[QUOTE=whiteflash,Mar 15 2010, 11:11 AM] I picked up some Sumitomo HRTZ III's because I needed some new rubber.

sirstig,
In my case, i read many of the tire reviews on this website and paid alot of attention to the tire ratings on Tire Rack, which rated the tire very high, especially for the money. The Sumitomo HTRZ III were rated at least a point higher, as I remember, than the II versions

Great thanks! I was flipping back and forth on the tirerack pages like mad. Must have missed something lol. The tread pattern on the II just look so much better. well summer is coming soon. Just gotta do plenty of track days and try both. I can afford the pricier tires just yet. Once graduated with a steadier income, maybe i'll upgrade. Thanks for making this easier!
