Default Going from a 8.5 OEM wheel to 8 RPF1 (rear)

Just wondering going from OEM setup AP2V1 (17 X 7 in front and 17 X 8.5 in rear) to Enkei RPF1 (17 X 7 in front and 17 X 8 in rear) would I need to get a new alignment?

Mind you I am keeping the stock tire sizes (215/45 and 245/40)

The only difference in the Enkei setup is going from an 8.5 to an 8....so does that necessitate an alignment?

thanks in advance guys

whenever you change wheel/tire you should get an alignment

New wheels/tires don't affect aligment.

As noted above, new wheels/tires won't affect alignment, but you might need an alignment anyway...

Q: Why on earth are you getting aftermarket wheels that are narrower than stock?

If the tires you are taking off are worn unevenly it would be a good time to have the alignment. If no uneven wear save your money.

well the TireRack fitment available is either 17 X 8 or 17 X 9 for the rear and I don't want to roll my fenders or relocate the rear bumper tab...therefore I went for the straight bolt on fitment (17 X 8)...is it a half inch smaller in terms of width as compared to the OEM wheel? yes but I really don't think it's gonna have any negative impact...I'm retaining the staggered fitment so that was def something I was aiming for

yes ideally I would have done an 8.5 rear but they are very scarce and when you do find them the offsets are to aggressive

the reason I'm wondering about alignment is because I just had my car realigned about a month ago...so for me to slap on new wheels and tires and have to redo an alignment would suck

and Jim I bought new tires as well...since I'm lowered an inch and have -1.5 degrees of camber in the rear, the inside wears more rapidly than the res of the tire, but tire wear is even on both sides

since I just had my car aligned a month ago it should be fine

I think you should be fine going with 17x8 +45 fronts and 17x9 +45 rears, running 215/245 tires. Tire clearance isn't going to be much different vs. the same size tires on 17x7 +45 and 17x8 +45. Either way, some camber might be necessary for clearance, but you shouldn't have to roll the fenders or anything else.

I went from oem to 7 and 8 RPF1 but 215 and 255 tires, back ended up rubbing a bit on mid to highspeed dips at stock height oem alignment. hope that helps

there ya go...not the same exact predicament but still I didn't want to take the chance...I know 9's would have looked better on the back but I've seen how the 8's look and I'm really pleased with that

I've seen all kinds of post doing searches on here...saw anything from yeah you just need to add a little more camber and you'll squeeze the 9's in no problem to you'll need to roll fenders and relocate the bumper tabs...so I wasn't gonna take the chance...this will be a great and good looking setup regardless

and to know that I won't need a new alignment makes my day honestly

245s on 8" wheels are only going to be *slightly* less likely to rub as 245s on 9" wheels.

See comments above. Offset and tire size are bigger players than wheel width in whether or not you'll rub.

I run 2.2 degrees in back on the S, and 2.5 on the Z, and tire wear isn't a major issue, maybe 2/32 difference in inside/outside wear at end of life. Keeping toe minimized helps with tire wear a lot more, camber in this reasonable range is no big deal.

And if you would need an alignment/more negative camber with 215/45-17 on 17x7" +45s and 245/40-17 on 17x9 +45s, you likely will with the same tires on 17x7/17x8 +45s.

Your approach is more conservative/safe, but only *barely*.
