Thumbs up Hankook R-S2 Replacement

I am running Hankooks on my stock rims; 245/45/16 on the rear.
The rears need replacement; the fronts are fine.

It looks like these tires are being discontinued...guess I missed out on the Tire Rack clearance sale.

Any other suggestions? As it would be a big waste to replace my fronts.

Is the R-S3 a viable replacement? I'm wondering if these are geared more towards autocrossing, etc. compared to R-S2. They have a lower treadwear rating of 140, compared to 200.

This also brings to question how "safe" would it be to run these with my current fronts.

Ideas?

I don't think they make a 245/45/16 for the rs-3. as far as the tread wear rating goes, i dont think that it would make a huge difference but the rear would be more planted, maybe cause a bit of understeer (if you just drive on the street, you might not notice it).

I noticed that. I'll just drop back down to the recommended stock size of 225/50/16 in the rs-3.
Street driving only.

I would just pony up and grab some Dunlop Direzza Star Specs. I was running RS2's last year and my rears went out and I had to get mismatched tires. Wasn't the best idea IMO.

Not that big a deal to run mismatched tires if the rears are more grippy than the fronts. I have run Star Specs in back with RS-2's up front, not a problem other than terminal understeer at the track in the wet (mild understeer on the track in the dry). On the street, it's not a problem.
