Default Hub Centric Rings

So I got a new set of Volk wheels and they sent me the hub centric rings finally
does anyone use them? what is the benefit? will they damage the wheels over time?
I have been told that they are not needed but then why are they included in a new set of wheels?

Funny story why I have so many rings
first Mackin Industries sent 73mm-70mm x4 ring with my wheels by mistake
I needed 73mm-64mm x2 for the rears but they sent 73mm-70mm x2 instead by mistake again!
I finally got 73mm-64mm x2 today haha!

obviously they are supposed to keep your wheel centered on your hub but they are mostly useless if you ask me! as long as you mount your wheel flush with the hub and your lug nuts centered in the mounting holes of the wheel then it's about as dead center as it's gonna get. the only thing i notice is that hub centric wheels/rings make it easier to get the wheel studs centered in the holes before putting the lug nuts on. otherwise i usually have to wiggle the wheel a little bit as i snug the first two lug nuts to make sure they are seating all the way flush in the hole.

If you have new ones, why not use them? The problem occurs later when they wear out and get deformed when you remove the wheel several times.

it keeps the wheel center but if you have the wheel off the floor and tq down in the star pattern your good. the lugs will center the wheel for you. justs add a bit more security
